Sorry I haven't had a new blog in awhile but like so many others, the winter and it's generous offering of flu has had me in it's grip.
I've been doing a lot of thinking recently about this once great nation and how we arrived here and I've come to the conclusion that a lot of what we are going through can be traced back to all the changes we've seen in churches the last few decades. I like to call these new ways to worship " Feel Good Churches". You see somewhere along the way we ran off course and it has gone downhill ever since. This country started following the lead of Europe and the United Nations instead of The Bible and as God knew all along that was a recipe for disaster.
As we've watched our Government become more politically correct year by year so have our churches. People now get their feelings hurt or toes stepped on and change churches like underwear. Never mind that The Bible has no gray areas, if a preacher or the leadership of a church talk to a congregation or church member in any way that might hurt their feelings even when quoted from The Bible, people head for the door. How dare anyone in todays society butt into anyones personal affairs and share life truths that are in scripture. Churches are opening up on every corner and offering everything from services to fit your busy life to drive through prayer and write it off as " it's the world we live in today".
There is no decorum or honor shown in the sanctuary today. People wear clothes that they would wear to the lake to church. Men in ballcaps and women in skimpy tops with little left to the imagination, in my opinion shows little respect for God or his House. Children run around during sermons and prayers without a parent taking control. Parents hold their Bibles on Sunday and then watch their grown children have children of their own out of wedlock and shack up with their lastest boyfriend or girlfriend in the parents house. If anyone approaches them to talk to them in Christ's Love and point out the acceptance of sin around them is as bad as doing it yourself, ( God tells us not to sup with the sinner for a reason), then people feel violated. Funny how Christian some folks can be until it is brought to their attention what God's word says about the things they are doing, and then we watch them moving that Christian butt out the door and down the street to a more relaxed Church. ( I am not saying we are to harp on people or ridicule them, but we are supposed to talk to Christian brothers and sisters about living the Word of God as are they to us. )
I have watched the last several years the decline of The Church from a place of Glory to a gathering place to meet and greet and have a party. I read articles all the time and talk to people who attend various feel good Churches and am amazed at the things I hear. These Churches are careful not to step on toes by talking about homosexuality or abortion, careful to not talk about shacking up and premarital sex because they don't want to hurt anyones feelings. There are now Churches that don't pass the offering plate as to not make anyone who's not tithing feel bad. The Lord's Supper now has no strings attached ( never mind what the Bible says), Heaven forbid someone should feel guilty about something that is written in The Bible. There are Church get togethers in which members drink and carry on just like any other get together in life. Churches allow couples living in sin to join in all activities as a family just as if they were married as commanded by God. Gay couples can join a Church now and not have to worry about being told God detests what they are doing. In these Churches they are never told what they are doing is leading them straight to Hell.
Preachers preach feel good messages and that makes everything alright. These people are on a collision course with Satan and their souls are on the line as the preachers pat them on the hand and tell them everythings going to be alright.
The political correctness of this type of Church has gone step in step with the political correctness of our Country as it has slid downhill to where we are today. That is how we arrived at the point where we are now. We have a TV show called Curb Your Enthusism that found it funny to have the lead actor urinate on a picture of Jesus and an openly Gay Elton John ( who goes to a feel good Church in mid-town Atlanta) state last week that Jesus was a gay man. It is sickening what is happening throughout this country right now. We have a Godless man in the Oval Office. A Godless House and Senate. Godless schools and yes alot of it has come about because we have Godless Churches.
All the feel good Churches are not the same and at the same level of decadence but just remember it a slippery slope once you start down it. The only safe way to lead us out of the darkness we are in is for all Christians to open their Bibles and start speaking and living the Truth that God gave us, not adding or ommitting ANYTHING. After all, John warned us in Revelation about that. Sounds like some preachers got a lot of splainin' to do when they get to Heaven.
